Itinerary

DAY 1:  BUCHAREST - SINAIA - BRASOV - SIBIU

You will be picked up in the morning at your address in Bucharest and depart to Sibiu.  On the way, you will stop at Sinaia, a very famous mountain resort, also known as the "Pearl of the Carpathians" to visit a typical and peaceful worship place, Sinaia Monastery, built in the late XVIIth century.

The next visit is Peles Castle, the former summer residence for the first Royal couple of Romania, King Carol I and Queen Elisabeth. Considered one of the most beautiful castles in Europe, the construction is impressive thanks to its architectural style, decorations, and the beautiful interior design (an exciting mixture of cultures in terms of furniture, the specific touches of the King and Queen). The palace had modern facilities for the last half of the XIXth century (electricity, vacuum cleaner, electrical elevator and central heating). Here you will also hear the story of the Royal couples in Romania and their significant influence on the country's history. The visit lasts about 45 minutes, after which you can spend some time in the beautiful gardens of the castle.

Then it's on to Brasov (Kronstadt "the city of the crown" under its German name). You are now officially in Transylvania! In Brasov, you will have the opportunity for lunch (meal cost not included in tour price) in a typical restaurant and enjoy a lovely walk in the old city center's narrow and cobblestone streets. You will see the Council Square, the Council Tower and the famous Black Church (the most extensive Gothic construction in the Eastern part of Europe).

In the evening, the tour heads to Sibiu at dinnertime and your overnight accommodation.

DAY 2:  SIBIU - BRAN - BUDAPEST

Enjoy breakfast (included in tour price) at your hotel in Sibiu and then explore this wonderful Transylvanian city. Sibiu used to be a medieval German citadel, with the first documentary attestation in 1191 with the old name of Hermannstadt. In 2007, Sibiu gained the title of the European Capital of Culture. You will enjoy a walking tour of the old town (the historical center of Sibiu), including the Large Square, the Small Square with the picturesque Liars Bridge, the city's ancient fortifications, the Council Tower and more. Around noon, there's a stop at a nice local restaurant to enjoy a traditional lunch (meal cost not included in tour price) before heading back to Bucharest.

On the way, there's a stop at Bran to visit Bran Castle, which became famous worldwide thanks to the legend of Dracula. Here you will find out how this legend was born and why Transylvania is part of it. Guides' advice: probably some garlic will be useful during the visit!

In the evening, arrive in Bucharest with lifelong memories and stories to tell your friends back home.
